The Sounds You Often Encounter
In addition to each intriguing measurement, users can also access a collection of sounds that are commonly heard. A list synthesizing familiar sounds will be organized by varying levels of loudness. This allows you to recognize which sounds are louder and should therefore be avoided to prevent long-term effects on your well-being, ultimately enhancing your mood positively.
Noise Alerts
You will perform sound measurements over a specified duration. Following this, the Sound Meter appliCation will calculate and present various noise levels: minimum, maximum, and average during the measurement period. With these insights, the app will issue aleRTS if sound levels exceed thresholds safe for human hearing.
Application Features
The Sound Meter is also referred to as a Sound Pressure Level meter (SPL meter), noise level meter, decibel meter (dB meter), sound level meter, or simply soundmeter. It serves as an invaluable tool for conducting sound tests or measuring environmental noise effectively.
The noise level or sound pressure level meter (SPL meter) utilizes your smartphone or tablet microphone to assess environmental noise in decibels (dB). Please note that the readings from this device may not be as accurate as those from a dedicated Sound Meter (dB Meter). Now, with ease, you can conduct a noise evaluation using your mobile device.
Important Note:
The readings from the decibel meter or sound meter (dB meter) may not match that of professional Sound Pressure Level Meters (SPL Meters) due to most smartphone microphones being optimized for vocal sounds. To mitigate inaccuracies, it is advisable to calibrate it with a real sound meter before use. If you do not have access to a professional SPL meter, consider finding a quiet area to calibrate the reading at around 20-30dB.

Comparison of Noise Levels
After assessing the noise around you, the app provides a reference chart comparing noise levels of common sounds. For instance, the softest sound is breathing at 10 dB, followed by the ticking of a clock at 20 dB; mid-range noises include Motorcycle sounds at 90 dB, subways at 100 dB, and notably loud disturbances like gunfire reaching up to 140 dB.
