Features of Callbreak

Callbreak is an immensely popular traditional Indian card game, also referred to as Lakdi or Lakadi in India. The Octro multiplayer variation of Callbreak involves four players using a regular deck of 52 playing cards. The game relies on strategic trick-taking Mechanics similar to other card games like Spades.

In Call Break, you compete agAInst three opponents and aim for the highest individual score to achieve victory.

Game Format and Rules

Call Break Deal & Bid:

The gameplay includes five rounds, or deals, on every public table (Public tables are open for anyone to join, and Seating is assigned randomly with three available players globally). In the initial round, the dealer is chosen at random, and rotation for dealing then proceeds clockwise. Following the distribution of all 52 cards among the four players, each player must bid or call the number of tricks they believe they can achieve during that round.

Call Break Game Play:

Once all players have placed their bids, the player adjacent to the dealer will commence the first play. This player may throw any card from any suit, except for Spades. The suit played becomes the led suit and subsequent players are required to follow by playing a higher-ranking card of the same suit. If unable to do so, they must play any card from the led suit. Should they lack cards in the led suit, they can play a Spade, which serves as the trump card. Conversely, if they don't possess a Spade or prefer not to use it, any other card may be played. The highest card of the led suit wins the hand; should a Spade have been played, the highest-ranking Spade captures the hand instead. The winner of each hand then leads into the next hand, continuing this way until all 13 hands are completed, followed by the next deal initiation.

CallBreaks Result Calculation:

Points are calculated after each round, and at the conclusion of all five rounds, the player with the highest total points accrued throughout will be declared the winner.

Example of Callbreak points:

Round 1:

Player A Bid: 2 hands, Player B Bid 3 hands, Player C Bid 4 hands, and Player D Bid 4 hands.

Player A Achieved: 2 Hands, resulting in Points Earned: 2.

Player B Achieved: 4 Hands, resulting in Points Earned: 3.1 (3 for Bid & 0.1 for the extra hand made).

Player C Achieved: 5 Hands, leading to Points Earned: 4.1 (4 for Bid & 0.1 for extra hand made).

Player D Achieved: 2 Hands, resulting in Points Earned: -4 (When a player fails to capture the hands they bid for, all the bid hands count as negative points).

This calculation process will be repeated in every round, culminating in the final round where the player with the highest total points will be declared the champion.
